Donald Beckwith
An experienced HVAC technician, Don was NATE-certified in 1991. A native of Engelhard, North Carolina, he graduated from Mattasmuskeet High School in 1977 and attended Davidson County Community College where he studied Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
Brandon Boyd
One of R.A. Hoy’s newer employees, Brandon is the company’s vehicle mechanic. He enjoys the fun, work-hard atmosphere and likes hunting and fishing in his free time.
Bob Boyd
R.A. Hoy’s warehouse manager for over 10 years, Bob also has 10 years’ experience as an oil burner technician and 18 years as a tanker driver. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he spends his time off enjoying his family and yellow lab Samson.
Phillip Brickhouse
Joining R.A. Hoy in 2010 as a customer service specialist, Phil spends his spare time home with his wife and kids and at various sporting events ranging from cheer competitions and football games with his daughter to football and basketball games with his son. Phi was born in Columbia, North Carolina, raised in Manteo, and attended trade school at College of the Albemarle.
Mitch Classen
A dispatcher at R.A. Hoy since 2008, Mitch enjoys the customer-driven mindset of the team and the opportunities for on-the-job learning and growth. Mitch and wife Faith relocated from Raleigh, North Carolina to the Outer Banks in 2004 after they both retired from their IBM careers. The move enabled them to be closer to their children and grandchildren, not to mention the beach. Mitch enjoys most outdoor activities, such as boating, fishing, hunting, as well as day-to-day chores and projects around the house.
Mike Copeland
A sheet metal mechanic with R.A. Hoy for over 10 years, Mike is a father of one and an avid outdoorsman.
Ralph Falardeau
Heading permitting and inspections at R.A. Hoy, Ralph moved to the Outer Banks after 34 years in the aircraft business at Pratt & Whitney. He was born and raised in New England.
Dave Gaffney
A veteran of nearly 20 years in the HVAC industry, Dave enjoys watching Carolina Panthers football and spending time with his wife and two children.
Rob Gallagher
With R.A. Hoy since 1984, Rob enjoys the professional challenges and personal rewards of working in the HVAC industry. He cites meeting new people and working with qualified coworkers as key elements of a great career.
Gene Griffith
Hired by R.A. Hoy in July 2010, Gene is a Bronz-Glow specialist and expert in whole-house duct cleaning. He enjoys doing equipment installations, both new construction and change outs. Gene moved to the Outer Banks in 2002 with his wife and two sons.
Willie Grizzle
A more than 10 year veteran of the heating and air conditioning business, Willie has been with R.A. Hoy since 2008. He enjoys the company’s team environment and emphasis on training and professional development. In his off hours, he enjoys football, fishing, doing construction projects, and spending time with his wife, son and family.
Joel Hagadorn
A member of the R.A. Hoy team since July 2001, Joel has worked in the heating and air conditioning business since 1978. An Outer Banks resident since 2001, he enjoys fishing, the beach, and traveling in his free time.
Chris Jennings
Chris is an R. A. Hoy installer with 25 years of HVAC experience. He treats every installation job like it’s for his own home or business. He is an avid fisherman and enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
David Koerperich
A lifelong resident of the Outer Banks, David graduated from First Flight High School, where an internship led to a full time position with R.A. Hoy. In his spare time, David enjoys riding motorcycles, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends.
Leslie Lawston
Leslie moved to the outer banks in April of 2011 after being with the VA Public school system for 10 years. She is one of R.A. Hoy’s newer team members, working in the extended warranty department.
Jim Lewis
An R.A. Hoy service manager since 2001, Jim has 21 years’ experience managing multiple tradesmen in electrical, heating, air conditioning, plumbing and facility maintenance, and service and new construction. He retired from the Department of Defense after 33 years of service.
Fred Marklin
Fred has been with R.A. Hoy for over 21 years. Originally from New Jersey, the 25-year HVAC veteran likes to fish and enjoy the beach in his free time.
Mel Paris
An HVAC residential consultant at R.A. Hoy with 17 years in the industry, Mel enjoys his work and family. When time permits, he indulges his passion for cars and traveling to new places.
Brian Parks
Raised in Northampton County, North Carolina, Brian joined the R.A. Hoy team drawn by their reputation for doing quality work and staying on the cutting edge. With 9 years’ experience in the HVAC industry, he aspires to be one of the best in his profession.
Bill Porter
Bill Porter is a member of R.A. Hoy’s service and sales team with 30 years of experience in the HVAC industry. He enjoys providing superior service and solutions to all customers and specializes in the design and installation of geothermal heat pumps and zoning control systems. In his free time, Bill enjoys playing his Gibson mandolin, golfing, hunting, and being with family.
Gray Roberts
A 20-year veteran of the heating and air conditioning industry, Gray moved to the Outer Banks 13 years ago. Originally from Chesterfield, Virginia , he is married with twin boys who he enjoys teaching to surf. Gray also likes to hunt and fish in his free time.
Jeff Rosenberger
With over 20 years’ experience in the service and construction industries, Jeff is proud to be a part of R.A. Hoy’s team of professionals. Graduating from an electrical apprenticeship in 1994, he worked in the construction field as a Journeyman Electrician, Superintendent and Project Manager. He managed his own electrical service and building construction business for five years beginning in 2000. Since then he has spent several years working in the service industry as a manager and director. During his free time, Jeff enjoys hiking, biking, fishing and going to the beach with his wife and four children.
Tom Sankey
Born and raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Tom worked as a journeyman tradesman for 25 years before graduating with honors from the College of the Albemarle (Chowan campus) with a diploma in HVAC and refrigeration. A resident of Salvo, North Carolina, he works as an R.A. Hoy service technician on the south end of the island. Tom’s free time is spent surfing and kite boarding and enjoying life with wife Lori and his two dogs Cujo and Winston.
Wade Smith
A member of the R.A. Hoy team for 11 years, Wade enjoys the company’s family atmosphere and emphasis on professional development and keeping up on industry best practices. In his spare time he enjoys watching competitive drag racing.
Missy Thomas
Missy started working at R.A. Hoy in July of 2000 and has worn many hats around the office in the years since. Originally from Kansas, Missy enjoys cheering on the Kansas Jayhawks during college basketball season. Once a “Navy brat” always a “Navy brat,” she helps out at the American Legion post in Coinjock when time allows. She enjoys her time off with her pets, reading and watching NASCAR!
Kasandra Umphlett
Kasandra joined the R.A. Hoy team in 2003 as a receptionist and is now in charge of the sales and extended warranty departments. A lifelong resident of Currituck County, she has learned almost every aspect of the company and continues to focus on learning opportunities and professional development. Kasandra enjoys black Friday shopping, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Doug Wakeley
R.A. Hoy’s first employee and a 32-year veteran with the company, Doug was born in upstate New York and raised in the Monroeville, Pennsylvania area. Married with three grown children and two grandchildren, his outside interests include spending time with the grandchildren, sailing, snow skiing, NASCAR, and football. Doug and his wife and son are all private pilots.
